Common warning signs
The trackpad may become difficult to click, the keyboard or palmrest may lift, the bottom case may bulge, or the laptop may rock on a flat surface.
Immediate precautions
Shut the laptop down, disconnect the charger and stop using it. Do not puncture, bend, compress or attempt to flatten the battery. Keep it away from heat and combustible material.
Replacement and inspection
The correct battery must be matched to the exact HP model and product number. The surrounding case, trackpad and internal connections should also be checked for pressure damage.
