A loud fan does not always mean the fan itself is faulty. It may be responding correctly to heat that the cooling system cannot remove.
Common causes
Dust can block the heatsink fins, a fan can wear or stop, thermal interface material can deteriorate, vents can be obstructed or software can keep the processor under heavy load.
Symptoms worth checking
Watch for very hot surfaces, constant fan speed, reduced performance, sudden shutdowns, rattling noise or fan errors at startup.
Correct service approach
A useful service examines the air path, fan condition, heatsink seating, thermal transfer and system behaviour rather than blowing air into the external vent alone.
