HP may sell many configurations under one family name. The product number is normally the most useful starting point for a repair quote.

Where to look

Turn the laptop over and look for a label containing Product, Product No, ProdID or P/N. The number may end with a regional suffix such as #ABG.

On some models the information is printed very lightly or beneath a removable service cover. A well-lit photograph is safer than guessing characters.

Product number versus serial number

The serial number identifies the individual laptop. The product number identifies its configuration and is particularly useful for matching screens, batteries, keyboards and structural parts.

What to send us

Send the complete label photo, the visible model family and a description of the fault. For screen or hinge damage, include a photo of the whole open laptop and a close-up.

Need model-specific advice? Contact our Benowa workshop with the full HP product number and fault description. For physical damage, include clear photos.
